    Tenipuri

July 1999, Weekly Shounen Jump began to publish Tennis no Ouji-sama within its pages. It would continue to be published within this magazine until March 3rd, 2008. On this date, almost nine years later, Tennis no Ouji-sama was completed with 379 chapters that spanned between 42 manga volumes.

On March 4th, 2009, a year and one day after the series was finished, Konomi Takeshi, writer and illustrator of Tenipuri, had a new series that began being published in the pages of Jump Square magazine. This manga is know as Shin Tennis no Ouji-sama; the sequel to his first hit manga.

On October 10th, 2001, an anime adaption of the series began airing. It was directed by Hamana Takayuki, and, with 178 episodes, the last episode was shown on March 30th, 2005. Though in April 2006, an OVA started to be released on DVD. Then, on June 22nd, 2007, a second OVA started to be released on DVD. This was about three months after the first had ended. This one ended on January 25th, 2008. Finally, on April 25th, 2008, a third OVA had started.

Also, on May 26, 2009 until Sep 25, 2009, Another Story ~Messages From Past and Future~, a four episode long OVA, was created.

There is also a movie that was released on January 29th, 2005 titled "The Two Samurai: The First Game". This aired along side a short movied, A Gift From Atobe.

Not only did this one manga begin a rather long anime series, it also started a musical in 2003 (Look at the Tenimyu section for more information.). There is also a live action movie that was released on May 13th, 2006. In China, a drama was created based off the series though it has a few differences. There was many games that were created for systems such as the Playstation 2, Gameboy Advance, and Nintendo DS. There was a half-hour weekly radio show, nearly 200 musical CDs (if not more), merchandise that includes trading card, figures, plushies, and more, and two live events that featured the voice actors from Tenipuri and Konomi Takeshi.

Tennis no Ouji-sama has become well know throughout Japan and even outside. Hey, and for a sports manga, it isn't that bad at all~!
